September 11

 Prompt: A major event that happened during my lifetime that affected the whole country and world was Covid-19. In a way I can somewhat understand what life was like for Americans after 9/11 because just like the terrorist attacks, with Covid the country went on lockdown. 9/11 was such a catastrophic and devastating event that it is almost incomparable to any recent event in history. But for the new generations Covid is almost like our 9/11. It completely changed the way the country interacted with each other, and we weren't allowed to go outside out of fear of getting sick. Like 9/11, many people lost their lives, though it was from sickness and not an attack. 

Summary: Today in class we revised our paragraph.

Reflection: Revising our paragraph with our classmates feedback will help improve our paragraph. It will also make us better writers because we are learning from our mistakes.

 Prompt: One thing that makes me different from other people is my empathy. I am a very empathetic person, and I always make sure I'm looking out for others. Think of a time when you tried to persuade someone to agree with you, change their mind, or do something you wanted. What were you trying to persuade them to do or believe? How did you use ethos, pathos, or logos to persuade them? Which appeal was most effective and why?

 Prompt: I persuaded my parents to go to Seaside for Spring Break. My parents didn't want to go because it was going to be super crowded and busy, but I was able to persuade them. I used Ethos, Pathos, and Logos to persuade them and I told them how most of my friends were going and that it would be super fun. We had already been before so I used that to convince them that I was already aware of how to get to places and how to be safe while doing so. Pathos was the most effective because my parents wanted me to have fun and they felt like it was important for me to be with my friends. It ended up being a very fun trip and I'm glad I was able to convince my parents to take our family there. Summary: Today in class we presented our Origin of Our Name assignment. How has living in or around Atlanta influenced the way you see your community, culture, or identity? If you were speaking to someone unfamiliar with Atlanta, what would you want them to understand about your community?

 Prompt: Living in Atlanta has influenced the way I see my community in many ways. It has helped me see how diverse and connected we are and how that makes living in Atlanta meaningful. I want people to understand that Atlanta is a beautiful place and because we are so diverse, Atlanta has so much to offer. Atlanta has so many different types of shops, restaurants, and activities that anyone would enjoy. I would encourage people to learn about the history of Atlanta and why it is so important and meaningful to those who live here.
