Three Goals I Want to Achieve this Year

Three goals I want to achieve this year are earning all A's in my classes, Improving my writing skills, and becoming more organized with my school work. I want to earn all A's because it will help me maintain my GPA so that I can get into UGA. I want to improve my writing skills because I plan to go into sports media and to do that I need to major in Journalism, so improving my writing will help me with that. I want to become more organized with my school work so I have a strong structure of when I'm going to complete my work. This way I wont be rushing to finish something because I will have a structure in place to keep me organized.

 Prompt: One thing that makes me different from other people is my empathy. I am a very empathetic person, and I always make sure I'm looking out for others. I tend to feel bad for people if they are going through something on a deeper level and try to connect with them to make sure they know that I'm here for them. Think of a time when you tried to persuade someone to agree with you, change their mind, or do something you wanted. What were you trying to persuade them to do or believe? How did you use ethos, pathos, or logos to persuade them? Which appeal was most effective and why?

 Prompt: I persuaded my parents to go to Seaside for Spring Break. My parents didn't want to go because it was going to be super crowded and busy, but I was able to persuade them. I used Ethos, Pathos, and Logos to persuade them and I told them how most of my friends were going and that it would be super fun. We had already been before so I used that to convince them that I was already aware of how to get to places and how to be safe while doing so. Pathos was the most effective because my parents wanted me to have fun and they felt like it was important for me to be with my friends. It ended up being a very fun trip and I'm glad I was able to convince my parents to take our family there. Summary: Today in class we presented our Origin of Our Name assignment. How has living in or around Atlanta influenced the way you see your community, culture, or identity? If you were speaking to someone unfamiliar with Atlanta, what would you want them to understand about your community?

 Prompt: Living in Atlanta has influenced the way I see my community in many ways. It has helped me see how diverse and connected we are and how that makes living in Atlanta meaningful. I want people to understand that Atlanta is a beautiful place and because we are so diverse, Atlanta has so much to offer. Atlanta has so many different types of shops, restaurants, and activities that anyone would enjoy. I would encourage people to learn about the history of Atlanta and why it is so important and meaningful to those who live here.
